How to say family and relative members in Japanese?

For Superiors or Clients:

When discussing the family of someone who is in a position of authority or a formal setting, like a boss or a client, it's polite to use 'sama' (さま) after the family relation. For example, when speaking about their mother or father, you'd say 'o-kaa-sama' (お母かあ) or 'o-tou-sama' (お父様とおさま), respectively. This level of formality conveys deep respect.
For Friends: When talking about family members with friends or those of the same age/status, it's more casual and common to use 'san' (さん) after the family relation. Thus, 'o-kaa-san' (お母かあさん) for mother and 'o-tou-san' (お父とおさん) for father.

Your Own Spouse:
