You :すみません。
(Excuse me.)

Japanese: はい、どうしました。
( Yes, what's the matter?)

You :実じつは、財布さいふを無くなくしました。助けたすけていただけますか。
(Actually, I lost my wallet. Could you help me?)

Japanese: 交番こうばんへ行いくといいですよ。
( It's better to go to the police box.)

You :すみません、交番こうばんはどこですか？
(I'm sorry, but where is the police box?)

Japanese: ここから200メートルめーとるくらいです。まっすぐ進すすんで、信号しんごうを左ひだりに曲まがってください。そのまままっすぐ進すすんでいくと、交番こうばんが見みえますよ。
( It's about 200 meters from here. Go straight and turn left at the traffic light. Just keep going straight, and you will see the police box.)

You :ありがとうございます！行ってみます。
(Thank you very much! I'll go and check it out.)

Japanese: どういたしまして。見みつかるといいですね。

(A: "Hey, there’s a study that says the probability of finding a lost wallet is actually around 60%.")

B: 「え、本当ほんとうに？でも、6割わりって結構けっこう高たかい方ほうなのかな？」
(B: "Eh, really? But, isn’t 60% relatively high?")

A: 「うん、でもね、中身なかみの現金げんきんが戻もどる確率かくりつはもっと少すくないらしいよ。」
(A: "Yeah, but apparently, the probability of getting the cash inside back is even lower.")

B: 「へえ、そうなんだ？でも、2011年ねんの大地震おおじしんの時とき、津波つなみで流ながされた5700個この金庫きんこが警察けいさつに届とどけられて、23億おく円えんの現金げんきんが持もち主ぬしに返金へんきんされたってニュースにゅーすがあって欧米おうべいのメディアめでぃあが驚おどろいていたらしいね。お金おかねを失うしなくした人ひとに同情どうじょうして返かえしてあげようと思おもう人ひともいれば、神様かみさまありがとうって、自分じぶんの都合つごうの良よいように考かんがえる人ひともいるんだろうね」
(B: "Oh, really? But, you know, during the 2011 earthquake, 5,700 safes washed away by the tsunami were handed over to the police, and 2.3 billion yen in cash was returned to the owners. There was news about it, and Western media seemed to be surprised. There must be people who sympathize with those who lost money and think of returning it, and also those who think 'Thank God' and think for their own convenience.")

A: 「僕ぼく、数年前すうねんまえに渋谷しぶやで酔よっ払ぱらって路上ろじょうで数すう十分じゅっぷん横よこになっていたんだけど、気きが付ついたら財布さいふの入はいったバッグばっぐが盗ぬすまれてたんだよ。盗ぬすんだ人ひとは、 神様かみさまありがとうって思おもって盗ぬすんだのかな？理解りかいに苦くるしむな。」
(A: "I was drunk in Shibuya several years ago, and lying on the street for several minutes, but when I realized it, the bag with my wallet in it was stolen. I wonder if the person who stole it thought 'Thank God'? It’s hard to understand.")

B: 「えっ、ホント？それは大事件だいじけんだね！やっぱり、どんなに安全あんぜんな国くにでも、決けっして安心あんしんしてはいけないんだね。」
(B: "Eh, really? That's a major incident! No matter how safe the country is, you can never be too careful.")

A: 「本当ほんとうにそう思おもうよ。気きを付つけないと」
(A: "I really think so. We have to be careful.")
